The pitch
Kelpra turns farmed seaweed into rigid, home-compostable trays and punnets for fresh produce, meat and ready meals. The material runs on the thermoforming lines food packers already own, so switching from plastic needs no new machinery.
Seaweed comes from two partner farms on the Atlantic coast that need no fresh water, fertilizer or farmland. Trays break down in a home compost bin in about 8 weeks and meet EU food-contact rules.
